Cooper Vineyards ~ Primitivo 2010

Final cooper

What I drank: a Primitivo from Cooper vineyards out of Amador, California. We visited the winery, but we tasted so many wines that I can’t remember what this wine is made from. There’s no information on the label either, so all you get is a name.

Taste: 8/10

Price: $$

Alcohol Volume: 15%

The all important taste/price/potency satisfaction ranking: 7/10

Final thoughts:
This was an excellent wine. It packs a little punch but it was very smooth. I could drink this wine every day. The price tag (pushing $30) is really what brought down the overall ranking. For a special occasion, or if you’re looking to impress a wine enthusiast, this is a great find.

Have you ever had this? Where would you rate it? Was I waaaaay off in my ratings? Tell me!

Cheers!

  1. Hey, Zack, Primitivo is basically the same as Zinfandel (different clone of the same early grape):

There is some really good Zin coming from Amador County now, so I’d expect high quality of the Primitivo as well. But, I agree, that price tag is a bit high. We can get awesome CA or WA wine for $20 or less these days.

    Cheers!
